Version by operating system (QuarkXPress 7 to 2019)
If you are planning to use the following operating system, here are the QuarkXPress versions that have been officially supported (or still are) on it:
Mac OS X / macOS
  • Using OS X Tiger (10.4)? QuarkXPress 7 & 8 were supported on this OS.
  • Using OS X Leopard (10.5)? QuarkXPress 7, 8 & 9 (up to 9.5.3.1) were supported on this OS.
  • Using OS X Snow Leopard (10.6)? QuarkXPress 8 & 9 were supported on this OS.
  • Using OS X Lion (10.7)? QuarkXPress 9 & 10 (up to 10.2.1) were supported on this OS.
  • Using OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)? QuarkXPress 9, 10 & QuarkXPress 2015 are/were supported on this OS.
  • Using OS X Mavericks (10.9)? QuarkXPress 9, 10, 2015 & QuarkXPress 2016 are/were supported on this OS.
  • Using OS X Yosemite (10.10)? QuarkXPress 10, 2015, 2016 & QuarkXPress 2017 are/were supported on this OS.
  • Using OS X El Capitan (10.11)? QuarkXPress 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 are/were supported on this OS.
  • Using macOS Sierra (10.12)? QuarkXPress 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 are supported on this OS.
  • Using macOS High Sierra (10.13)? QuarkXPress 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 are supported on this OS.
  • Using macOS Mojave (10.14)? QuarkXPress 2018 & 2019 are supported on this OS.
  • Planning to use macOS Catalina (10.15)? QuarkXPress 2019 will be supported on this version of macOS, most likely four weeks after Catalina's official release.
NB: Though QX2015 is not officially supported on High Sierra, QX2015 seems to run well on High Sierra with one minor cosmetic issues: Some controls are not shown in Save/Export dialogs. They will appear when you click somewhere (e.g. Desktop shortcut in sidebar).
Windows (32 bit)
  • Using Windows XP (32 bit)? QuarkXPress 7, 8 & 9 were supported on this OS.
  • Using Windows Vista (32 bit)? QuarkXPress 7, 8 & 9 were supported on this OS.
  • Using Windows 7 (32 bit)? QuarkXPress 8, 9 & QuarkXPress 10 were supported on this OS.
  • Using Windows 8.0 (32 bit)? QuarkXPress 9 & QuarkXPress 10 were supported on this OS.
  • Using Windows 8.1 (32 bit)? QuarkXPress 10 was supported on this OS.
  • Using Windows 10 (32 bit)? We will not certify any version of QuarkXPress for the 32-bit version of Windows 10 (or higher). Please use the 64-bit flavor of Windows 10 instead.
Quark does not support 32-bit flavors of Windows anymore, please consider upgrading to the 64-bit flavor of Windows instead.
Windows (64 bit)
  • Using Windows XP (64 bit)? QuarkXPress 8 & 9 were supported on this OS.
  • Using Windows Vista (64 bit)? QuarkXPress 8 & 9 were supported on this OS.
  • Using Windows 7 (64 bit)? QuarkXPress 8, 9, 10, 2015, 2016, 2017 & QuarkXPress 2018 are/were supported on this OS.
  • Using Windows 8.0 (64 bit)? QuarkXPress 9, 10 & QuarkXPress 2015 are/were supported on this OS.
  • Using Windows 8.1 (64 bit)? QuarkXPress 10, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 & QuarkXPress 2019 are/were supported on this OS.
  • Using Windows 10 (64 bit)? QuarkXPress 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 are supported on this OS.
    (However, please be aware that as Microsoft calls all new versions of Windows now 'Windows 10', older versions of QuarkXPress might not run well on newer versions of Windows 10. Check the internal version number of Windows 10 please.)

Please note that QuarkXPress 2018 was the last version to support Windows 7 (64 bit).

And – as written in the other post – 'not supported' does not necessarily mean 'won't work'. It just means that Quark didn't test this combination and will also not help you to make this run, it is up to you. If you need technical support by Quark, please use a supported combination, which has not reached end-of-life.

Quarkxpress software download, free

The steps to install QuarkXPress 2019 on Mac OS are as follow:

1. Download the QuarkXPress 2019 installer from

2. Go to your Downloads folder and open the downloaded installer package by double clicking on the QuarkXPress 2019.dmg file.

3. Drag and Drop the QuarkXPress 2019 icon on the Applications folder to install the software (asshown in Figure 1) and you'll see the files start copying to the application folder( as shown in Figure 2)

4. Once the copying finishes. Go to Applications and launch the QuarkXPress 2019 to complete the installation process.


5. On the QuarkXPress Setup Assistant dialog window, click Continue


6. Scroll down to read the license agreement and then click 'Continue'


7. You will get License Agreement prompt, click on 'Agree'


8. Choose the installation type as Full Install/Upgrade and enter your validation code.


9. Enter the User Information and click Continue.


10. Click Continue on the next screen.


11. It will ask for your SYSTEM login/password to proceed further.


12. It will start 'configuring' the application on your Machine.


13. Now, click Continue to complete the installation.


14. After completing the Installation you will get the Activation screen:

Your system must be connected to the Internet to complete the activation process.
1. Launch QuarkXPress.
2. The Application prompts for Activation, click on Activate Now.
3. It open the Automatic Activation window.
4. It also shows the button to select Other Activation Options. Ignore this and click Continue.
5. The Activation Process will take 1 minute (approx.) to connect to the server and complete the activation.
